Note: Most of this site uses a layout that pre-dates the smartphone/tablet boom. Starting with issue 13, we are rolling out a new design which we hope will work better on mobile devices. At the time of writing (July 2020) this is ‘work in progress’ and is yet to be rolled out to the rest of the site.

We can't promise to make this site perfect on every platform, but do hope to make it legible and navigable on any browser or screen. If anything is preventing you from accessing the site on your chosen browser please let us know.

The system of pop-up windows we use to display illustrations and references requires Javascript to be enabled. If these cause problems - or if you just don't like them - click on the "Use popups" button at the top of the page to use in-line illustrations.

If you have problems using:

…then we recommend that you turn off popups. There is a “Use popups” button on most pages – if you can't access that then just add “?popups=off” to the end of the web address (or disable Javascript in your browser).

PDF Versions and Printing

2

You will see a "Download Article (PDF)" link at the top of each article.

The best way to get a hard copy of an article with sensible pagination, headers, footers and page numbers is to download and print the PDF version (Windows users may need the free Adobe Reader or similar software). The PDF versions are designed for A4 paper - if you are using US Letter, check the print settings in Adobe Reader are set to scale output to fit your paper.

You can, of course, just use your browser's usual “print” function but it won't be nicely paginated or have consistent page numbers.

Is a paper version available?

3

No - currently, Educational Designer is only available in online form from this site.

Cookies and Statistics

5

This site does not collect any personal data. Like most non-trivial websites, Educational Designer uses 'session cookies' to temporarily store data on your browser during each visit. Unlike other types of 'cookie' these contain no personal data, remove themselves from your machine when you close your web browser and can not be used to track your use of other websites for advertising or snooping purposes. We use session cookies for things like remembering when you've turned off pop-ups and for keeping anonymous statistics of how many visitors we have and which articles they read. This site contains no third-party advertising or analytics features.

This very limited use of cookies is necessary for the operation of the site. If you do not agree to this, just close your browser application and any cookies will be removed. If we asked for explicit consent, we would have to use a persistent cookie to remember your choice!
